Ninth class

Teachers: Ingrid, MercyTopic: Food and drinksVocabulary: Donuts, vegetables, candy, soda, water, fruit, cereal,
hamburger, pizzaGrammar: Is it good for you? Is it bad for you? Yes, it is. No, it is
not.
Review: Numbers, colors, alphabet.

They started the class with the hello song with
some different movements. Then, teacher Ingrid did the warm-up in which
students review the previous lessons. Students took a card from a box that was
called the secret box. Students mentioned an action and they spelled the word.
I consider that the activity was ok and students were very concentrated about
what they got from the box.

For the presentation
she used a puppet that was called Totty. She was a friend of teacher Ingrid and
she is a teacher too. Totty interacted with the students and she presented the
new vocabulary with some flashcards. I consider that this presentation was
terrific for the students because they enjoyed being with the puppet and this
type of presentation helps students to acquire the target vocabulary and for me
I think that used a puppet for a class is very difficult because we need to
change our voice in order to be success and also to gat the attention of the
students.

For the grammar part,
she used real objects in order to practice the target vocabulary. Students took
an object from a secret box that contain all the real objects and they decided
it was good or bad for them. I consider that using a real objects helps
students in order to internalize the vocabulary because it is important for the
students in order to associate the objects with the real world.

The practice stage
was in charge the teacher Mercy, she started the practice with something new
and interesting for the students, the activity was called the puzzle food. She
divided the students in groups and she gave them a puzzle and they needed to
organize the picture. Students enjoy the activity and they did their best. I
consider that here they practice the fine motor skill which is good for them.
The second practice was to put the food and drinks items in the correct face of the disposable plate. Mercy prepared the plate so that the children work in both sides and they were very concentrated doing the activity. He they also practice the fine motor skills and they also internalize the target language and they know about what food is good for them and what is not.
The last activity was a shopping list, students were very excited about it and they work in groups. They were fill in the list and they were collecting the food and drinks they had on a list. I consider that this types of activities helps students to internalize the target vocabulary and also they enjoy practicing.
Finally, they sang the bye-bye song with some different movements and also they change the speed of the song.
My case of study.
My case of study enjoy this class because she practice and learn the name of the food that she likes the most and also she got the pronunciation of all words and have a talk with her and she told me that she really enjoy the class and she learned something new and have more knowledge on her mind.
Eighth class
Teachers: Raul, Juan JoséTopic: ActionsVocabulary: Swim, run, jump, fly, climb, eat, drink, drive.Grammar: I can/can’t , she can/can’t, he can /can’t , it can/can’tReview: Animals, family members, alphabet.
They introduce the class with the hello song, with some variations on it, he changed his tone voice from slowly to faster to play with them. Also, to review of previous class he used name tag activity. He put folded papers with students’ name in front and one picture of family members, vocabulary, clothes or pets inside, he asked each student to pass in front and look for his or her name, then they had to say what it was, during the activity I noticed all students were able to answered the questions that teacher Raul asked and the purpose of this activity was made students remember part of the vocabulary already studied, at the end they counts and told me how many flashcards there were.
Raul was in charge of the presentation. He uses a flipchart to present the target vocabulary. He presented the first action and for the next one he asked about the previous one and so on until the last one. Here students activated their schema about the topic and they make the connection with words that are in Spanish, also hey started to think about the previous action. Therefore, students had a competition in which they answer a questions that the teacher Raul did with the flashcards, he divided students into two groups and they asked to form two lines and they started the competition in order to win a piece of ribbon. Also teacher Raul used in a good way the classroom arrangement and I consider that it is an important part to plan for every class and for every activities that teacher do.
Another part of the presentation was when students practice a hula hoops activity with some traffic lights in order to practice the actions verbs. Here students practiced the target vocabulary in groups and I guess I perceived that in this participation teacher Raul planted the activity with the TPR approaches that was crucial for the lesson because all was related to actions verbs so for that reason teacher Raul did a lot of movements.
Teacher Juan was in charge of the practice.
Students were very active because of the previous activities. Teacher Juan also
played with the classroom arrangement. Students were in a circle, he uses some
flashcards and they practice the actions with different movements. I guess
students liked it. The activity not only students mentioned the actions but
also they did the actions. I consider that TPR approach helps students to
acquire the target vocabulary because they can associate the name of the
actions with the movement. Then, teacher Juan introduce the grammar part that
was can and cannot. Teacher Juan put a poster on the wall with the phrase CAN
and CAN’T, he motivate students do some action movement. When they were practicing ¨ can ¨ they did a
movement very well and with ¨ can’t ¨ they did well and students understood
when they had to use ¨can and can’t¨.

Teacher Juan
continued practicing, he used a song in order to motive students to dance and
make some movements and when he stopped the song who had the hat had to take a
flashcard and said what it was on the flashcard, I consider that teacher Juan
did a good job in this part because students enjoyed activities that had
physical movements. Also the last activity, teacher Juan introduced a song with
action movements, so he was singing while students were doing the actions that
the song has, when they were singing I noticed they wouldn’t stop singing and
doing actions movements, but the class had to stop, and he in line carried them
out and said bye-bye.
My case of study.

My case of study really
enjoy the class because she learn some actions that she did not know how to say
it in English and her mother told me that she practice the actions on her house
with her others brothers, she was the teacher of her house, when she say that I
was so prove about the job of all my classmates did on her classes.
