First class.
Lesson 1
topic: Welcome to the classroom.
Grammar: There is and there are.
Vocabulary: bag, book pen, pencil, ruler, eraser.
Teachers: Luis and Gloria.
This was the first class of the practicum 1
and I think is the most difficult because they needed to break the ice, but
they can have some minor errors because was the first class. Luis started the
class with a little warm-up “what your name” students said his or her name and
then they mentioned the name of the other classmates, the key part was that
they threw a little cat. I consider that the idea was ok but he did not use the
space properly, therefore the tone of the voice was quite. I will use the activity
on my class just adding some extra parts that can be helpful to survive in a
warm-up.

Presentation part, in there Luis presented
the words using some flash cards in which he said the words and the students
repeated the words. Also, he asked them if they had the object with they and
students were ask to show the object to the teacher. Them, students said the
color of the objects and how many those objects were. I consider that the
activity was ok because Luis was presenting the objects in a good way, I just
will add like mere repetition of the words and introduce the activity better,
taking into account the comments that this part had. Therefore, he introduced
the alphabet he did a good job in that part just the size of the letter were
not ok.
Practices, I remember some of the practices
that the students did. For example “the queen said”, in this activity students
brought some of the objects that the queen asked for like pencils, erasers and
others stuff. I think in this activity directions were not clear and that might
hinder the activity. Also, students did not understand the activity, I guess
here the problem was that he did not do any example about how to do it because
children work base on examples, I will use this activity including more
examples, clear directions.
Now Gloria had the opportunity to face the
students, she was with a high power of energy. And she present the activity, it
was related to the alphabet, but the activity was too confusing for the
students that she realized that the activity was not for a kids and she changed
it without loosed the purpose. I like the activity and I will use it just by
giving more clear directions and making some examples in order students can
perfume the activity.


My case of study participated just a little
bit maybe she felt nervous and was the first contact with the teachers. Also I
can see that she just saw what the others students did and she repeated the
same. Therefore, I consider that because it is the first class she did not do
her best. We need to take in consideration the next
aspects in order to improve our future classes:
-
Modify our voice in order our students can hear us.- Speak slow- Show enthusiasm when we are in front of
the children.- Prepare materials in appropiate size,
color and shape.
